Abstract

The article examines the role of Central Banks in the Western Balkans using the rules and principles of the European Monetary Constitution as a parameter of analysis. It focuses in particular on the gap that separates these legal systems from the EU. The author uses both constitutional and sub-constitutional sources of law, national and community reports as well as academic writings in order to outline the fundamental characteristics of these Central Banks, especially with regard to monetary policy, price stabilization and independence.
