Abstract The author analyses recent developments of bio-law in Switzerland. In particular, he focuses on the changes in the legal discipline of medicine and biology from an ethical perspective. The author proceeds by providing an overview of the main actors and stakeholders in the bioethical and bio-legal fields. The new legislation regarding genetic technology, human assisted reproduction, Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), clinical research and biomedical experimentation is also described. In conclusion the author points out the relationship and the mutual influence that the activities of the Council of Europe and Swiss bio-law have on each. |
