Abstract The Author describes the architecture of the American system of credit and highlights the role played in civil society by American foundations. First, he analyses the history of the banking sector in the framework of the most important Banking Reforms. Second, he focuses on American foundations in the context of the different types of non-profit organizations and on the evolving concept of philanthropy. In conclusion, the Author identifies patterns of civil renewal and of social welfare. |
