Abstract The Italian Criminal Procedure Code has provided for video evidence since 1998 because it permits the trials against “mafia” to be carried out faster and it is also useful in order to protect key witnesses. On one hand, the defendant may take part in the trial while he/she is under detention. On the other hand, the witness can be questioned via video facility. Video evidence is also used in other countries in order to protect children who have experienced abuse. |
