Abstract The article focuses on regulatory aspects of the internet governance issue in the China case, mainly those affecting the freedom of expression. The choice of China as country case has not been casual, but it is functional to introduce and discuss one of the recent years’ major issue on the internet: its governance. Indeed, most scholars have claimed that the internet is ungovernable due to some of its particular features, above all technical difficulties and its trans-nationality. Therefore, the paper tries to answer three basic questions: whether it is possible to govern the internet – and in so doing protecting human rights – and, in case, who is the suitable subject to issue the regulation and how it could be reached. |
