Abstract After the European legislation on genetically modified organisms and novel aliments, and the Italian legislation implementing it, the Administrative Tribunal of Lazio is requested to decide on it in a concrete case involving the Italian government and a number of multinational companies. Facing the difficulty to clarify the real meaning and the aim of the norms in the concrete situation, and being aware of the need to protect the consumers’rights without illegally restricting the companies’ones, the Administrative Tribunal of Lazio suspends the case and submits certain questions to the European Court of Justice, insofar as such Court can be entitled to express an authentic interpretation of the related European directive. |
