Abstract

The article deals with the peculiar characteristics and the conformation of the federal systems in Latin America (that is, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Venezuela). The analysis of these systems is done on the basis of the following series of variables: the existence of a rigid Constitution with participations of the member states to its revision; the principle of autonomy; the existence of an organ to resolve the conflicts between the federation and its member states to the formation of the federal will; the constitutional distribution of powers between the federation and the member states; the financial compensation and the federal intervention.
