Abstract With the adoption of the new Instrument of pre-accession assistance – IPA – the European Union reinforced its political strategy of approaching the Western Balkan countries in the perspective of their future integration. By including the cross border cooperation component into the IPA instrument, the EU highlighted the relevant role recognized to the cooperative relationships established, during the last years, between local communities on each side of the Adriatic Sea that substantially supported the “European path” of the region’s Countries. |
