Abstract The third reform of the Statute of Autonomous Region of Azores(Portugal) has greatly affected Portuguese institutional situation in the last two years. Relationships between central and regional institutions were substantially modified by this reform. The reform has been checked by the Constitutional Court (preventive review control), then by the President of Republic (political control) and finally by the Constitutional Court again (abstract review): the second sentence has definitively resolved all constitutional problems by declaring unconstitutional many provisions of the Statute, affirming the supremacy of the Portuguese Constitution. |
