Abstract

This article analyzes the trade policies applied by States in the aftermath of the international financial and economic crisis. The analysis benefited from the data provided by a number of "monitoring mechanism" set up by a number of international organizations. Among the main results, the article concludes that the G20 members violated their "no protectionist" pledge undertook in the Washington summit in November 2008. In general, however, the WTO contributed in a substantial manner to limit the number of protectionist measures applied by Members.
