Abstract This article analyses the recent reform of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. After a short examination of the original structure provided by the European Convention on Human Rights, this work looks at the most recent changes included in the Protocol No. 11 of the Convention. Based on these amendments, a new full-time European Court of Human Rights, that began to function officially on November 1998, has replaced the old Commission and Court in Strasbourg. The author concludes, however, that this reform is only one small step in the right direction. |
