Abstract Following Italy’s endorsement of the Convention of the Council of Europe on the protection of the environment through criminal law, the author considers current internal Italian criminal law protecting the environment. The most important aspects of the Convention are discussed together with an outline of the recent l. 300/00 which includes the mandate to the Government to prepare a law decree by 26th June laying out the responsibility of the judiciary for environmental crime. |
