Abstract The essay analyses the different aspects of religious freedom and the relations between religion and public life in Spain. The essay sustains the argument that the use of religious symbols is not a very significant problem in contemporary Spain. In fact this country has to deal with other, interesting issues such as the preferential position of the Roman Catholic Church, the role played by other religion confessions (especially the Muslim religion) and teaching of religion in State schools. |
