Abstract “Constitutional Patriotism” or “Constituion’s Patriotism”; an expression minted by D. Sterneberger and later developed by J. Habermas, caused significant interest and academic debate in Spain. This paper aims to argue that “Constitutional patriotism” has a meaning which comes out not only from the meaning of “Patriotism” and “Constitution”, but also from that of “Nation”, since it is the idea of Nation that links Patriotism with Constitution. Therefore, in order to describe the path that leads to “Constitutional Patriotism”, this analysis deals firstly with the origin of the concept of Nation and then with the transfer of Patriotism towards Constitution. |
