Abstract

As an introduction to a series of contributions concerning project financing in the context of comparative law, this essay deals in particular with project financing as a technique of financing based exclusively on the expected profitability of the projects themselves, and argues that, due to its widespread use and universality, this practice represents a model from a legal perspective. Furthermore, the paper considers project financing as a form of collaboration between public and private sectors in carrying out public works and highlights the difficulties in combining the practice of project financing with public laws.
