Abstract The project of constitutional revision, which has been approved by the Italian Parliament and should be confirmed by popular referendum, excites some remarks on the structure and the role that the so-called new federal Senate will assume. Besides doubts on its compatibility with previous constitutional revisions on the Italian regional system, this revision requires some comparative remarks. In particular it is compared to the German and Austrian systems, as far as the composition is concerned, and to the United States’ system as far as the nature of “continuous body” that should be assigned to the Italian second Chamber is concerned. |
