Abstract This essay consists of an outline of the recent reform of the financial system of Italian Independent Authorities. In particular, it focuses on the passage from a financial model based completely on government resources to a model of financial autonomy. There are two types of financial resources for or the Competition Authority: on one hand public resources for the control of agreements and the abuse of dominant positions, on the other contributions from enterprises with regard to merger control. Nevertheless, this financial mechanism could jeopardise the independence of the Authority. |
